The Covai Trans Kitchen was opened by transgender in Coimbatore at the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the joblessness caused by Coronavirus, restaurant proposed 32 working places only for transgender people.The president of the Transgender AssociationSangeetha decided to open this restaurant not only for people to enjoy this place, but also to support queer community. “The Covai Trans Kitchen is run entirely by transgender staffbeginning from preparing the food to delivery,” Sangeetha explained. Sangeetha also told that it wasn’t so easy to find such place; they couldn’t get this place because of the transphobic landlords. Finally, they found a place in RS Puram with the help of the lawyer. The Covai Trans Kitchen became hit from the opening day. The owner is planning to open the second location in six months.
