White House official took a free trip to be present at anti-LGBT event

The Southern Poverty Law Centre (SPLC) has designated the legal advocacy and training Alliance Defending Freedom as an anti-LGBT hate group. But government watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has uncovered that in August 2019 ADF paid more than $2,000 for Jennifer Lichter, deputy assistant to the President for domestic policy, to be present at their event devoted to freedom to discriminate, or how they call it, religious liberty. CREW said in a press release that although it is a common practice for non-federal conservative groups to invite White House representatives on the event for money, the trip “suggests the group’s influence is expanding within the Trump administration”. Lichter’s trip is not the first time the Trump administration has been involved with ADF.
