Sharron Davies supports JK Rowling and likens drag to blackface

Ex-Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies has sent support to writer JK Rowling as the latter faced backlash for not supporting the transgender community. Davies herself is far from being a trans ally. For example, she is against transgender women taking part in sport competitions against [cis] women and in female sport teams. This time the swimmer also criticized drag shows, calling them a parody on real women, adding that to her mind it is quite similar to blackface. “Woman are juggling kids, rushing out a wholesome dinner, doing the laundry & cleaning, holding down a job all with period pains & leaky boobs if breastfeeding,” she later tweeted, and it is unlikely to have been a sarcasm. Davies later replied to someone who agreed with her and added that drag shows are a “mockery and monstrous depiction of females”, saying: “That’s my point it’s mockery! But on a grand sexualized scale these days everywhere!!”
